This programme is designed to prepare an innovative, creative and flexible graduate with pedagogical, managerial and professional competences in the specific vocational and technical skills/ discipline, to cope with dynamic changes of technology and social-economic needs. Graduates from this programme will be able to facilitate and supervise training in both technical and vocational institutions.

Duration of Study:

In-campus Mode - Two years

Off - Campus Mode - Three Years

The whole training programme involves institutional training, industrial practical training (IPT) and teaching practice (TP).

Entry Requirements:

To be eligible to join the Diploma programme at MVTTC candidates must posses at least the following qualifications:

  1. Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with a minimum of four passes
    including English or mathematics subjects excluding religious subjects; and
  2. Minimum National Technical Award (NTA) levelS with ability to acquire NTA 6 qualification within two (2) years; and/or Holder of Vocational Teachers' Certificate Course (VTCC); or
  3. Any other equivalent qualification offered by a recognised institution registered by regulatory body; and
  4. Two (2) years working experience in industry.

Programme Objectives

 

The specific objectives for Ordinary Diploma in Vocational Teacher-Education are:-

 

  1. To provide a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of the subject areas namely:-

Business Communication, Professional Development, Development Studies, Research and Statistics in education and training curriculum studies and Organisation, Administration and Management.

  1. To produce graduates with acceptable professional ethics in the market demands.
  2. To produce graduates with acceptable managerial competences in the market demands.
  3. To provide adequate, appropriate knowledge and technical practical skills in education and training and apply skills and knowledge in a broad range of work activities some of them are non-routine (supervisory) level.
  4. To provide support for teacher trainees to advance their professional careers both in
    vocational! technical qualification and teaching profession (education and training)

Programme Outcomes

The courses under these programmes aim at creating an innovative and dynamic vocational teacher with high vocational technical qualifications and excellent pedagogical, anagogical, didactical, as well as responsive to training challenges and needs in providing quality vocational education and training. Thus, a Vocational Teacher with Ordinary Diploma in Vocational Teacher Education (NTA Level 6) will teach up to NV A/NTA Level S.
