BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Diploma in Vocational Education and Training (DVoET) course started in October 2008. The course is offered in full time basis at MVTTC premises in Morogoro.

PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE
The general objective of ODVET is to produce a vocational teacher who commands wide vision and scope through pedagogical competency, ability in management and acceptable professional attributes that will make them flexible and adaptive to changing market demands. This will enable the graduate to address the ever-changing labour market in vocational education and training. The graduate should also be able to advance professionally using all available means inside and outside
Tanzania.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The Diploma course for Vocational Teachers is comprised of five modules as follows:
Curriculum Studies.
Managing Vocational Training Functions.
Professional Development
Research Methods
Development Issues.

PROGRAMME DURATION
The duration for the course is one year consisting of 52 weeks.

MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
English will be the medium of instruction for the whole course.

ASSESSMENT
The assessment is conducted formatively (continuously) and summatively (i.e. there will be final validation Assessment) which will be set by VETA Examination unit.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Entrants to the course must have the following:
Vocational Teachers’ Certificate course or equivalent.
A minimum of Trade Test Grade one or Level III Certificate of competency.
Teaching experience in Vocational  Education and Training institutions for at least two years.
Having reliable sponsor OR able to pay fees.
